My Roots
I am Dirk,
born and raised, back in Germany, where everyone usually lives in a tiny flat, with a tiny balcony attached.
My love for Trees in Pots developed very early. Due to my stepmother, who had a huge horticultural understanding. We always had heaps of indoor houseplants and I always had trees in pots.
Just that over the years, the trees got bigger, the pots got smaller.
I came to New Zealand in 2013, ever since I've been working in the Landscaping Industry. Over the years, I came past so many amazing trees, that had to be removed. But instead of dumping them, I took 'em all home and potted 'em up.
I somehow felt obligated to give those trees some justice and in 2017, I've started getting into Bonsai.
I am, what you would call -self taught. I've watched, as so many of you, heaps of youtube tutorials and honestly most are terrible. I've lost quite a few trees. listening to bad advice. But over time I've gained my own experience and skills.
My horticultural knowledge is my Guarantee key to success in all my growing operations. Only a happy, healthy tree, will ever look good, as a Bonsai.
I love to use trees as a medium to create living Art in the representation of Mother Nature. I present my bonsai compositions, as I see them, out in the wild, through my own eyes and I give every composition, a very special note, that's carrying significantly my handwriting.
Personally my biggest achievement was winning the "Colin Churchill Trophy" - Premier Bonsai
Best Tree NZ National Bonsai Convention 2023
I personally got much bigger Plans in regards to Bonsai.
Bonsai has affected my life, more than anything . It gives me so much and I would like to share this marvelous experience with everyone.
I wanna make Bonsai more publicly available for free, easy accessible for everyone to learn and practice.
I have a clear vision, I am developing options within Community Spaces to make Bonsai easily accessible to people of all age groups across entire communities.
If you would like to support my mission, please feel free to reach out. I truly appreciate any help I can get.
Graciously yours
Dirk
